1 cup milk
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon butter
2 ¼ cup bread flour
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Add all cake ingredients into the bread pan, beginning with the liquid ingredients. Add yeast last on top of dry ingredients. Prepare cake on "Cake" setting of your breadmaker.
When done, test cake by inserting a toothpick into the cake. If baking is not complete, cook for an additional 10 minutes on the "Bake" setting of your breadmaker. If baking is complete, remove bread pan from breadmaker and let cool for 10 minutes and prepare the topping and optional glaze.
Prepare topping by mixing all dry ingredients into the melted butter. If glaze is desired, whisk all glaze ingredients together until well combined and not lumpy.
When cake is cool, remove from bread pan. Cut cake in half vertically to create two equal halves with a flat surface. Top cake with topping and glaze, serve warm.
