How long does it take for the water in the base to start boiling?

2 cups water (the minimum level indicated in the base) - approximately 5 minutes

4 cups water (the maximum level indicated in the base) - approximately 8 minutes

How can I speed up the steaming time?

Start by using hot tap water instead of cold water in the base. This will enable the water to come to a boil much faster than starting with cold water.
