This appliance is not intended for deep frying foods.
The light will go off and on as the heating element cycles, to maintain the temperature chosen.
We do not recommend baking foods in an electric skillet as marginal results are obtained and foods do not brown well. For best results, use a conventional oven for baking and use your skillet for its designed purpose of simmering, roasting, frying, grilling, sautéing, and serving foods.
We have many different skillet models, some of them do feature a cover vent and some of them do not. The covers are not interchangeable.
If the skillet you have does not have a vent, we suggest removing the cover near the end of the cooking period if you would like to allow the steam to escape and to crisp the food you are cooking.
Sticking is the result of improper use and maintenance. Since the non-stick finish is slightly porous, food particles can settle into the finish and cause sticking problems. Some foods may also require the use of a small amount of oil or fat.
After the appliance is completely cooled, wash it in hot soapy water using a non-abrasive cleaning pad. A dishcloth or sponge may not remove all food particles that may settle in the non-stick finish.
If the uncoated underside of the appliance needs cleaning, use hot soapy water and an abrasive scouring pad.
After washing, rinse and dry thoroughly.
Your appliance can be washed in the dishwasher, however, the underside of the appliance may discolor due to the detergent and the high heat of the drying cycle. This will not affect the cooking ability of the appliance. To prolong the life of your appliance, we suggest hand-washing your appliance after every use.
To remove the stains, soak a soft cloth in lemon juice or white distilled vinegar and rub on the finish. Wash the surface thoroughly, rinse and dry.
A spotted white film may form on the non-stick surface of your appliance. This is a build-up of minerals from foods or water and is not a defect in the surface.
Dark staining is generally caused by improper cleaning or overheating. Some staining is normal. You can try to remove or lighten dark stains by using the following method: In a bowl, combine 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of Dip-It coffee pot de-stainer OR automatic dishwasher detergent. USE ONLY ONE, DO NOT COMBINE THE TWO. Preheat the appliance to 225°F. Wearing rubber gloves, dip sponge into the cleaning mixture and wipe over surface. Continue cleaning procedure until mixture is gone. Turn the appliance off and allow to cool. Remove heat control and scour the non-stick surface with hot soapy water and a non-abrasive scouring pad. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
