How do I clean my Iced Tea Maker?
How do I clean the Ice Tea Maker? - Wash pitcher/jug, cover and brew basket in hot soapy water using a dishcloth or sponge. Rinse and dry. Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads on these parts as scratching can occur.
How do I remove tea stains from the pitcher or jug? - Fill pitcher or jug with equal amounts of warm tap water and white distilled vinegar to cover the stained area. Allow to soak until stains are removed. Then wash pitcher in hot soapy water, rinse and dry.
How do I remove tea stains from the basket? - Set brew basket in a metal or glass bowl. Add 1 cup of water to brew basket, then add 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach. Do not add more than recommended. Allow basket to soak until stain is removed, about 5 minutes. Wash basket in hot soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not add any other cleaning agents to dilute water/bleach mixture. DO NOT USE WATER/BLEACH MIXTURE TO CLEAN ANY OTHER PARTS OF ICED TEA MAKER AS DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
Can I clean the parts in a dishwasher? - The brew basket may be washed in a dishwasher, top rack only. DO NOT WASH PITCHER/JUG OR COVER IN DISHWASHER AS DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
How to remove mineral deposits from the Ice Tea Maker. - The heating unit inside the Ice Tea Maker requires special cleaning to remove mineral deposits which form naturally when water is heated. We recommend cleaning the unit after 30-40 uses in hard water areas and 60 to 80 uses in soft water areas.
TO CLEAN:
- Place empty basket into place on Ice Tea Maker.
- Fill pitcher or jug with white distilled vinegar to water level line. Pour vinegar into water reservoir. Add full tray of ice cubes to pitcher/jug or fill with cold tap water to the water level line. Place cover on pitcher and place pitcher/jug onto platform.
- Plug cord into outlet and push start button in to turn on. Allow vinegar to cycle into pitcher and unit to turn off automatically. Unplug cord from outlet.
- Drain pitcher/jug and refill with cold water to the water level line. Pour water into reservoir. Add a tray of ice cubes to pitcher/jug place cover on pitcher and put onto platform. Plug cord back into outlet and turn Ice Tea Maker on. Allow water to cycle into pitcher/jug and Ice Tea Maker to turn off automatically. Unplug. Drain water from pitcher/jug and wash pitcher, cover and brew basket in hot soapy water, rinse and dry.
