Sweet and Sour Chicken Wings
Make sure you have plenty of napkins on hand for these!
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 chicken bouillon cube
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup catsup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 12 to 16 chicken wings
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup cold water
- In pot, combine sugar, salt, bouillon cube, vinegar, catsup and soy sauce. On electric or gas stove, bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir mixture to dissolve sugar and bouillon cube. Remove form heat.
- Place chicken wings in pot. Cover and place pot on base. Simmer at Setting #3 1/2 for 6 to 7 hours.
- Increase heat to Setting #5. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and water. Stir into liquid in pot. Cover and simmer at Setting #5 until liquid thickens (about 30 minutes). Keep warm for serving at Setting #2.
- Makes 6 to 8 servings.
