Sauerbraten Loaf
A tangy change of pace.
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 cup soft bread crumbs (2 slices)
- 1 cup crushed gingersnaps
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup beer
- 1-3 cup vinegar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- Set covered pot on base. Preheat at Setting #3 1/2 while mixing ingredients.
- In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients to form a rectangular shape. Place in 9x5 inch loaf pan. Insert meat thermometer in center of loaf. Place loaf in pot.
- Cover and bake at Setting #3 1/2 for 4 to 4 1/2 hours or until meat thermometer reaches 170F for well done beef.
- Place inverted platter over loaf pan and turn platter right side up to remove loaf from pan.
- Makes 8 servings.
