Sauerbraten Loaf

A tangy change of pace.

    2 pounds lean ground beef
    1 cup soft bread crumbs (2 slices)
    1 cup crushed gingersnaps
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    1/2 cup beer
    1/3 cup vinegar
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

  1. Set covered pot on base. Preheat at Setting #3 1/2 while mixing ingredients.
  2. In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients to form a rectangular shape. Place in 9x5 inch loaf pan. Insert meat thermometer in center of loaf. Place loaf in pot.
  3. Cover and bake at Setting #3 1/2 for 4 to 4 1/2 hours or until meat thermometer reaches 170°F for well done beef.
  4. Place inverted platter over loaf pan and turn platter right side up to remove loaf from pan.

    Makes 8 servings.
